Final

Image
The original sketch for the poster/PDF. We wanted overall unity for both of these elements of our project. Begining to put together our collage now that we printed photos from the movie. The collage mostly finished. We wanted the quote to stand out because not only is it a driving force of the theme for the movie, but it also relates for how this movie can show a relation to the future. We felt that white would not reflect our project the best. In terms of lighting, the movie is not bright and we wanted to relay that in our poster. By painting the rest of the poster black (thanks to Maddie) we could add splashes of color with white and orange, both of which are symbolic in the movie. We added cotton balls to reflect the fog that the aliens Abbott and Costello live in within their ship. It brings an ominous element that other countries in the movie don't embrace. When Dr. Louise Baker breaks down all barriers between human kind and the aliens, she is able to make the most progress

Fashion Show Creative Process

I got the material for the top from a large Target bag. I tried to recreate the crop top that Leeloo wore in The 5th Element. By the end of the movie, her shirt got bloodied and was the target of attacks by the alien race.  This picture shows how the back straps would be tied. Outside of tape, the entire outfit was made from plastic shopping bags.  I had trouble with the slits I made to attach the straps to the top itself with them ripping. The tape here is the mechanism I came up with to reinforce the holes to try and preventing the top from ripping further.  View of the final product from the back. The lower straps would need to be tied behind in the back while the top ones stay tied. View of the final product from the front.  This picture is of me wearing the final product. This assignment definitely got me to step out of my comfort zone.

Time Traveler Video

https://youtu.be/GvZ2GVtEmf0 Shane: Hello earthlings of the 21st century! My name is Shane and I am sending a message to you from the future. In 2070, humans were forced to leave earth because the earth became inhabitable just like the film Interstellar predicted. Our new society is set on Mars because it was the most habitable planet. Members of our new society decided that we need to revert back to our old ways to prevent another apocalypse from occurring. We call our new home Project Jetson. Here at Project Jetson, men go to work every day while the women stay home and tend to our families. In our quest to find our way again, it’s nice to be able to write again like I did in college and early in my career. As my career grew, the people accustomed to newspaper or TV news died out, leaving only generations of millennials or Gen Z and younger that grew up with only generations raised with social media of the news that nobody had the attention span for any news story longer than 280 ch

Ghost in the Shell Essay

The 1995 film  Ghost in the Shell  explores the central theme of what truly makes us human found in other works that we have covered this semester such as  A.I. Artificial Intelligence  and  Blade Runner . In fact, the character Pris shows this quality best by borrowing a line from the same philosopher Rene Descartes that created the format of this essay; “I think therefore I am.”  There are many arguments as to what element of ourselves is the quintessential quality of human life. When tying in the idea of robotic technology so advanced that the distinction between man and machine is impossible to tell, the foundation of robots as previously imagined becomes irrelevant. Asimov’s “Three Laws of Robotics” assumes a time when humans are above cybernetic technology which isn’t found in  Ghost in the Shell . Therefore, trying to balance existence for the protection and sacrifice to humans that Asimov expected for machines is impossible. As much as I would like to think any bit of huma
